First SPELC Event of the Semester – NY Xi brothers co-sponsored a philanthropic event with SPIRIT NYS in the SigEp house. As part of the event, brothers helped run a collection drive to gather food and hygiene items for local high school students facing housing insecurity.
As part of the larger Sigma Phi Epsilon Learning Community (SPELC) program, the chapter collaborates with other organizations from both on and around campus to host cultural, philanthropic, and educational events throughout the semester.
Today’s event was organized by brothers Aidan Lieberman (‘27) and Philip Kim (‘27).
SPIRIT NYS’ mission is “to support the education of homeless and home-insecure teens by removing the barriers to success with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty.”
During the event, participants bagged care packages filled with hand written cards the brothers wrote as well as hygienic and personal items gathered from the drive.
“By doing events like these, we promote brotherhood within the chapter while giving back to the greater Rochester community,” explained Lieberman.
